How to Use Our Calculators

Last updated: April 4, 2026

Getting Started

AJ Designer provides over 200 free calculators for engineering, physics, math, and finance. Every calculator works the same way: enter the values you know, choose your units, and the result appears instantly — no buttons to click.

Entering Values

Type a number into any input field. The calculator validates your input in real time and shows a red icon next to the label if a value is out of range or missing. Results update automatically after a brief pause, or immediately when you press Enter or tab to the next field.

Choosing What to Solve For

Many calculators solve for multiple variables. Use the pill-shaped buttons at the top of the calculator to select which variable you want to find. The input fields adjust automatically — the variable you are solving for becomes the output.

Unit Conversions

Most calculators include unit dropdowns next to each input. Select the unit you are working in and the calculator handles all conversions internally. The solution box shows your answer in the selected output unit, and a “Solution in Other Units” table displays the result converted to common alternatives.

Reading Your Results

The highlighted solution box at the top of the calculator displays the primary answer. Below it you may find charts, data tables, or step-by-step breakdowns depending on the calculator. Results are computed using high-precision arithmetic to minimize rounding errors.

Educational Content

Below each calculator you will find a “How It Works” explanation, a worked example with real numbers, and a FAQ section answering common questions. These sections are designed to help you understand the formulas and concepts behind the calculation.

Tips

  • Use the clear button (X) on any input to reset it quickly.
  • Results dim slightly while the calculator is processing — wait for full opacity before reading.
  • All calculators work on mobile, tablet, and desktop browsers.
  • No account or download is required — every tool is free and runs entirely in your browser.

Accuracy and Limitations

Our calculators are for educational and informational purposes. While we verify all formulas and test extensively, results should be independently confirmed before use in professional or safety-critical applications. See our Terms of Use for full details.
